It’s Good to Celebrate!

The Centennial Commission was established by Mayor Dennis Phillips in September 2014. The Commission exists to organize a meaningful and enjoyable celebration of Kingsport's 100th birthday that appeals to all ages of people with ties to the City and honors Kingsport's diverse heritage, present community, and promising future. Where’s the party?

There was a party going on in 1948, and a rig down the middle of Broad Street was the best place to advertise. This photo was taken for the Farmer’s Family Party held on March 25, 1948 at the Civic Auditorium. The public was invited to meet the Farm Equipment Company staff.
